Q: What is an IBC?
A: An IBC or intermediate bulk container is a container used for transport and storage of fluids and bulk materials. They are generally cubic in form and therefore can transport more material in the same area than cylindrically shaped containers and far more than might be shipped in the same space if packaged in consumer quantities. They generally rely on plastic liners that can be filled and discharged with a variety of systems. The manufacturer/processor of a product can bulk package a product in one country and ship to many other countries at a reasonably low cost where it is subsequently packaged in final consumer form. IBCs range in size but are generally 40 to 50 cubic inches. The length and width of an IBC is usually dependent on the pallet dimension standard of a given country.
Q: What is a form fit liner?
A: A form fit liner is a flexible bag, manufactured of a film or foil structure that is designed to very closely match the interior dimensions of an industrial container. Form fitting implies that there are no gussets, folds or pleats in the bag that could trap material or in any way hinder the flow of material into or out of the container. Generally it is intermediate bulk containers or drums that utilize form fit liners.
Q: Why should I pay more for a form-fit liner?
A: Utilizing a form fit liner may reduce product loss, down time, labor and waste disposal costs. A form fit liner may also improve efficiency, productivity and space utilization. A form fit liner is more environmentally responsible and can eliminate the common issues associated with tube liners like; product contamination and liner discharge into processing equipment.
Q: Why would I use an IBC instead of a 50lb bag or 55 gallon drum?
A: IBC are a much more cost effective and efficient method of storing and shipping bulk products due to reduced handling, storage space and shipping costs.
Q: Does Grayling Sell IBCs?
A: Grayling offers the PaperIBC corrugated, one way intermediate bulk container with a Guardian form fit liner for bulk liquid storage and transportation. A: Grayling does stock some common sized liners for Gaylord boxes, Bonar, SpaceKraft, Buckhorn and Arena totes and we offer an inventory management program for custom liners. Most FIBC or bulk bag liners are made to order.
Q: Does Grayling make custom liners?

Some special order films do have minimum order quantity requirements.

A: Yes. The Avail QT Glovebag training videos are currently available in DVD format in Spanish, Dutch, French, Italian, German and Japanese.
Q: Why should I use a disposable decontamination shower enclosure?
A: Most contractors choose a disposable enclosure for one or more of the following reasons:
- A D-Con shower enclosure system assembles in just minutes.
- The newly assembled airlock system looks clean and professional and reflects well on the contractor.
- Because it is disposable, there are no cleaning, transportation or storage costs associated with the unit after the project is completed.
Q: What is the largest diameter pipe that I can use a glovebag on?
A: The largest glovebag type of product that we have commercially available is the GSH 1220-14-4. This product is designed to enclose pipes, tanks or vessels up to 6’ in diameter.
Q: What is the maximum working temperature that a glovebag can withstand?
A: The maximum working temperature of a polyethylene glovebag is approximately 150°F. The Therm-Equip high temperature resistant glovebags can handle temperatures up to 700°F.
Q: Why should I use a QT10 instead of a 44X60 glovebag?
A: The QT10 glovebag is much easier to use than the standard rectangular shaped glovebags and the QT10 provides more than a foot of extra work area than what is available in a 44X60, which results in dramatic labor savings due to the fact that fewer glovebag operations are required to do an equal amount of work.
